The Burmese name system is often difficult for Westerners to understand because the majority of the population does not use surnames and changes names easily. At birth, a set of names are given, belonging to that day and the day. A once by the royal name may not be for a lifetime. If someone thinks that he or she is entering a phase of life, has had another accident, or thinks that his or her name changes, the name is changed.
