Bangladesh is a country in South Asia. The country is bordered on three sides by India, but also has a piece of border with Myanmar in the southeast.
The Bengal tiger is the national animal of Bangladesh and India. It is a protected species. Since "Operation Tiger", several nature reserves have been established since 1973 to protect the tiger. India's tiger population now consists of some 2,226 animals. The Sundarbans, a mangrove forest around the Ganges delta, on the border between India and Bangladesh, is home to some 270 tigers on the Indian side and about 100 in Bangladesh.
