Turkmenistan

The Akhal-Teke (Turkmen: Ahalteke) is the national symbol of Turkmenistan. These horses are among the noblest in the world and are known for their speed and stamina. The 'golden horses' are adapted to strongly changing climate conditions. They are believed to be among the oldest surviving horse breeds. The total Akhal-Tekes stock is estimated at 3500, most of which are in Turkmenistan, Russia, Germany and the United States.
