Saint Lucia is an independent island nation in the Caribbean. The island, which has a land area of 606 km² and a population of 163,922 (2015) inhabitants, belongs to the Windward Islands and is located north of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and south of Martinique.

The blue color represents the sky and the sea and the gold represents sunshine and prosperity. The black arrow with the white border symbolizes the ethnic composition of the country. The triangle and arrow also represent Saint Lucia's two famous volcanoes, the Gros Piton and the Petit Piton.
