Poland is a country in Central Europe. It is bordered to the west by Germany (Oder-Neisse border), to the south by the Czech Republic and Slovakia, to the east by Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine and to the north by the Baltic Sea and the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad.

Polish cuisine is influenced by the cuisines of the surrounding countries. For centuries, Polish cuisine was a competitor of French and Italian cuisines. It is rich in meat, especially pork, chicken and beef, winter vegetables (bigos) and herbs. Pasta also features in many Polish dishes, the most famous being the pierogi.
