Germany has the largest population of any country in the European Union.

Germany can be found in the Free State of Bavaria. In 1516, Duke William IV of Bavaria issued the well-known Reinheitsgebot des Bieres. This command stipulated that only water, hops and barley could be used in the brewing of the Bavarian beers. Even today, Bavarian beers owe their world fame to this step. With 700 breweries, Bavaria also has the largest brewery density in the world.
