The traditional meal in Honduras consists of cornmeal tortillas (inland) or wheat flour (on the coast), along with beans and rice. When a meal needs a little more luxury, chicken is often added, or cheese, an avocado, a fried banana and some cream. A number of well-known dishes are pollo frito or pollo asado, bistec a la parilla, carne asado and pinchos.
