Wit-Rusland

Belarus, officially the Republic of Belarus, is a republic in Eastern Europe. The country was one of the original Soviet republics, along with Russia and Ukraine. Belarus declared its independence on September 19, 1991. The capital is Minsk.

Belarus is administratively divided into six voblasts (provinces) and the capital Minsk. The voblasts are subdivided into rayons (districts). The current division was established in 1957 as oblasts. After independence, this division was adopted from the Soviet era, the only difference being that the Russian oblast was changed to the Belarusian voblast.
