Oman

Oman is an absolute monarchy. The sultan enacts all laws. The country does not have a constitution, but it does have a basic law. The sultan is advised by the Majlis of Oman. The majlis consists of two chambers: the lower Advisory Council (Majlis al-Shura) and the higher State Council (Majlis al-Dawla). Oman has no political parties and the candidates are elected in a personal capacity. Women have both active and passive voting rights.
