Venezuela

Venezuela is a country in northern South America, bordered by the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean to the north, Guyana to the east, Brazil to the south and Colombia to the west. Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Isla Margarita and Trinidad and Tobago are located off the Venezuelan coast.

The name Venezuela comes from the Italian word 'veneziola', which means 'little venezie'. It was so named by explorer Amerigo Vespucci, when he saw the houses built on stilts at Lake Maracaibo that reminded him of Venice.
