Jordan is a country in the Middle East. Jordan is located to the east of Israel and the West Bank bordered by the Jordan River and the Dead Sea (a salt lake). Furthermore, the country is located next to Syria to the north, Iraq to the northeast and Saudi Arabia to the southeast.

Petra was the Greek name of the capital of the Nabataeans and is located in present-day Jordan. The Nabataeans themselves called the city Raqmu. The city is located in a gorge in the hills and is partly carved out of the rocks. In 2007 Petra was voted one of the Seven New Wonders of the World.
