Delegation host Carlos – Portugal

Songfestival fan Carlos is a Rotterdammer with Portuguese roots. There could not be a better host for the Portuguese delegation. “I am proud of my city and of my background.” So when the Eurovision turned out to be coming to Rotterdam, he immediately wrote to the municipality. “Nice details: I shot the video for my application as a host in Portugal.”

Even though this year is different than usual, Carlos tries to make his guests enthusiastic about his Rotterdam. “I want them to feel at home here. When we ride on the bus, I tell all kinds of things about the city.”

His first memory of the Eurovision Song Contest is from 1980. “I went to buy Johnny Logan’s single with my mother. At our house, the Saturday night of the final was always a special holiday. We had snacks on the table and I was allowed to stay up late. Just like with old and new.”
